Biohacking: Should Biotechnology Be Available to the Masses?


Biologist Ellen Jorgensen wonders, "We have personal computing, why not personal biotech?" So she and her colleagues opened Genspace, a nonprofit DIYbio lab in Brooklyn devoted to citizen science, where amateurs can go and tinker with biotechnology. And their lab is just one in a growing movement of biohacking operations around the globe.
