Nancy Jackson is the immediate past president of the American Chemical society and works with the U.S. Department of State at the Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico. Working with the U.S. Department of State has allowed her to travel and see the way that Chemical Engineering is evolving across the world, especially in the Middle Eastern countries.

Women have begun to have an large impact on the chemical engineering world. Nancy has noticed that there are increasingly more women than men studying and teaching chemistry. In some cases, she has noticed that these women are also accepting more western clothing, uncovering their heads and playing a larger part in general to the growth of the industry.
