YPs of Houston's STS-AIChE Hold Summer Planning Meeting

Summer Planning Meeting, July 2011

The Young Professionals (YPs) board of STS-AIChE in Greater Houston got together for their summer planning meeting earlier this month. "We hold our planning meetings twice a year, one in winter and one in summer to plan various events throughout the year. This is also a great opportunity for newcomers to get involved and meet YP board members", said Jayce Mathews, YP Chair of STS-AIChE.

The planning meetings involved brainstorming various ideas and plan events, like plant tours, happy hours, university visits, etc. The STS-AIChE itself hold their planning meetings separately and the YPs usually present reports from their summer planning meeting at the STS Planning Meetings. "STS-AIChE is very well organized and our Planning and ExCom meetings, including our monthly dinner meetings are very well run and attended, thanks to our volunteers and our sponsors", said Jayce.

Members who would like to get involved are always welcome to attend these planning meetings to acquaint themselves with the functioning of our section. "All our events lead to outreach and giving back to our chemical engineering community," reiterates Jayce. If you are in the Greater Houston area and would like to get involved or would just like to attend one of our events, feel free to ChEnect with them on Facebook (and please

them!) or check out their website.
