YPC is currently working on finalizing a number of great YP and Student sessions and activities for this year's Annual Student and Professional Conferences in Pittsburgh, PA, this October. In addition to the work that is being done for the Annual conferences, YPC is also beginning to finalize YP sessions for the 2013 Spring Meeting, which will be held in San Antonio, TX. Transition to Young Professionals Committee (YPC) The Young Professionals Committee's by-laws have been approved and we have officially transitioned from YPAB to YPC. For more information about why we are made the transition to YPC please see the article in the second edition of the YP newsletter titled "The Transition from YPAB to YPC: How does it Affect Me?". Open YPC Positions YPC currently has a number of leadership positions that we are looking to fill for the 2012-2013 year. If you are interested in getting more involved or want to request an application, please Kate Gawel at ypab@aiche.org. Applications will be accepted and positions filled on a rolling basis. Join a YPC Subcommittee Five YPC subcommittees are currently accepting members interested in participating in subcommittee initiatives. These subcommittees are:

  • Local Sections & Executive Student Committee (ESC) Subcommittee
  • Programming Subcommittee
  • Publication Subcommittee
  • Retention & Recruitment Subcommittee
  • Global Student Competition Subcommittee

Next Conference Call Our next YPC conference call is tentatively scheduled for the end of September. If you are interested in participating in the call or would like to find out more information about what YPC is currently working on, please email Kate Gawel at ypab@aiche.org to be added to our listserv. Once on our listserv, you will receive meeting notices for each month's conference call as well as meeting minutes after the call. 2012 Annual Conference Currently YPC is focusing a lot of effort on the 2012 Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, PA held October 28th through November 2nd. A joint YPC and SIOC social is planned for Sunday, October 28th, please see "2012 Annual Meeting YPC/SIOC Social Event" for more information. K-12 Outreach at the 2012 Annual Conference On the Sunday of the Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, AIChE will be sponsoring a K-12 outreach event for local high school students. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more, please see the article "Call for Volunteers: K-12 Activities at the AIChE Annual meeting" or send an email to K12Outreach@aiche.org. AIChE Young Professional Newsletter YPC hopes to continue to publish newsletters on a quarterly basis. We are looking for volunteers interested in helping with the newsletter either by writing articles or editing them. We also would like to include more information about what YP local sections across the country are doing in our future Upcoming Local YP Section Events articles.
