Guess what you can create with 108 bottles of Coke Zero and 648 mentos? It's EepyBird, a rocket car propelled by the 2 aforementioned products. Throughout the EepyBird Youtube site, there are regular warnings "Don't Try This At Home", which I'm sure make people want to do it all that more. Here's what EepyBird had to say about how the rocket car works:
The Coke Zero & Mentos Rocket Car uses a piston mechanism: a six-foot long rod sits inside a six-foot long tube attached to each bottle of Coke Zero. When the Mentos drop into the soda, the pressure tries to push the rod out of the tube. With 108 rods all pushing at once, that gives us a lot of power.

Well it isn't fossil fuels, and it may not be that renewable... but it is pretty awesome! Perhaps this should replace the Mousetrap car experiment we did in Middle school... nothing like a little chemistry.

This is such a fun idea! I recently read an article about new hybrid cars recycling energy when the car comes to a stop. Does anyone know how to explain this in more "human" terms if you know what I mean.

Perhaps it has something to do with the car removing and storing the energy from the wheels when it uses the brakes (instead of just dissipating the energy in the form of heat).
