Gina M. Gatto
Gina M. Gatto is the Chief of External Engagement, Membership & Governance at AIChE — a role she assumed in May 2023. In this capacity, she oversees the strategic direction and operations of the Membership Engagement team, the FOSSI program, and (as of June 2025) the Governance function.
Prior to this role, Gina served as Director of Membership & Volunteer Services (starting July 2021). In that role she led AIChE’s membership acquisition and retention efforts for both professional and student members, and she worked closely with volunteer leaders in AIChE’s many communities to enhance and grow their engagement and visibility. She was also accountable for the overall health of AIChE’s membership base — including deploying enhanced member benefits and services — and led major student-programs including the Student Regional Conferences and the AIChE Annual Student Conference.
Gina plays a key role supporting AIChE’s IDEAL (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism & Learning) efforts: she works closely with the Women in Chemical Engineering Community (WIC) and the newly launched K-12 Community, helping to expand the reach of chemical engineering to broader and more diverse audiences.
Before joining AIChE, Gina spent four years at AdvanSix (formerly part of Honeywell) as a Process Engineer and then as a Production Engineer in their Caprolactam and Ammonium Sulfate plant in Hopewell, VA. Gina holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), where she was an AIChE member during her undergraduate years.
With her blend of technical engineering experience, volunteer-organization leadership and strategic membership operations, Gina brings a unique perspective to advancing the mission of AIChE — helping chemical engineers connect, grow and lead in a rapidly evolving profession.
